Hundreds evacuated as fire rips through German nightclub
Hundreds Evacuated as Fire Rips Through German Nightclub
At approximately 3:45 AM Saturday, a fire erupted at K Club, a music venue in Kehl, southwest Germany, near the French border. Emergency services reported that around 750 people were safely removed from the building before the flames engulfed the entire structure. While no one was hospitalized, three individuals required medical attention on-site.
Fire Spreads Rapidly in Industrial Zone
Images shared by German media captured the intense blaze on the club’s roof, which was situated in an industrial district of the city. The rapid spread of the fire prompted swift action from responders, ensuring all occupants exited without major casualties. Officials emphasized the smooth evacuation process, a stark contrast to the earlier tragedy at a Swiss resort.
Music Venue Hosts Cross-Border Audiences
K Club, known for its focus on hip-hop and Afro music, frequently welcomed crowds from the Alsace region, particularly from Strasbourg, the closest French city across the Rhine. The venue’s popularity among international visitors underscored its role as a cultural hub in the area.
Investigation Underway into Fire Cause
A probe has been initiated to determine the origin of the blaze, which remains undetermined. This incident follows a devastating fire at a bar in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, that claimed 41 lives and left 115 injured just months prior. Despite the severity of the Kehl fire, authorities noted that the evacuation was orderly and efficient.
“The fire began at around 3:45 AM in K Club, a nightclub in Kehl, located near the border with France,” said police. “All 750 individuals inside were able to escape safely.”
