Strictly star will not face rape charges, police say
Strictly Star to Avoid Rape Charges, Police Confirm
Hertfordshire Police announced on Tuesday that an unnamed figure from the BBC dance show Strictly Come Dancing will not be charged with rape. The individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, was taken into custody in October 2025 and released on bail pending further investigation. Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, detectives concluded there was “insufficient evidence” to proceed with criminal action.
“There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape,” the police stated. “The man, who had his bail extended on Tuesday 6 January 2026 until today, Tuesday 7 April 2026, will face no further action.”
The Sun had previously reported that the man was accused of raping a woman following a BBC event. The woman, who was not a contestant or professional dancer on the show, had connected with him through his involvement in the competition. This incident is separate from the latest series of Strictly, which airs from September to December and is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood.
Earlier in August, another person linked to the show was also arrested on suspicion of rape. The Metropolitan Police indicated at that time the individual was also under investigation for non-consensual intimate image abuse. However, the role of this second person in the program remains unclear.
