Man Jailed after Grooming Girl Met on Roblox

Carlo Tritta, 19, has received a 28-month prison sentence for sexually grooming a 14-year-old girl he encountered on the virtual gaming platform Roblox. The teenager, from Greater Manchester, initially claimed to be 15 before revealing her actual age in December 2024. Tritta, based in Eastleigh, Hampshire, confessed to creating indecent images of a child, engaging in sexual communications, and persuading the girl to view a sexual act. He also admitted to intimidating a witness and damaging property during his attempts to sway the case.

“The young girl believed she was in a loving relationship, but it was built on coercion, control, and abuse,” stated Det Supt Rod Kenny of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. “His primary goal was to obtain indecent images of her as a child. He used flattery and gifts to achieve this.”

Tritta first met the girl while playing a game on Roblox 11 months prior to the incident. The conversation started with gameplay but gradually shifted to more intimate exchanges. He later moved their chats to WhatsApp and Snapchat, where he declared his affection. Tritta even delivered takeaway food and a secret phone to her residence. His actions escalated when he began requesting explicit images, which the girl eventually sent.

The case emerged in August 2025 when the girl’s mother discovered a message on her daughter’s phone. Tritta had twice journeyed over 200 miles from Hampshire to the girl’s home, disregarding court orders to avoid contact. During these visits, he damaged the doorbell camera and entered the house to confront her. He also sent two cards to her, urging her not to back the prosecution and falsely accusing her family of having drugs at home.

During a police interview, Tritta acknowledged that he became aware of the legal implications after being under investigation. The girl described her emotional state in court, stating she “felt trapped and upset” and feared going downstairs at night, believing Tritta might be waiting. Her mother added that the family had been “constantly on edge,” with their home no longer feeling secure. The victim now attends therapy to cope with the trauma.

Karina Lyon from the Crown Prosecution Service emphasized Tritta’s predatory nature, noting his actions caused “fear and anxiety” for the girl and her family. “He not only exploited the child for sexual gratification but also violated court orders, damaged property, and tried to influence witnesses,” Lyon explained.

A Roblox representative expressed sadness over the case, stating the platform had introduced updated age checks in January to restrict interactions between users of different ages. They highlighted their commitment to preventing child exploitation through safety systems and collaboration with law enforcement. “While no system is flawless, we continue to enhance our safeguards daily,” the spokesperson said.
