Couple in court after boy, 13, dies in crash
A 13-year-old boy, Noah Campbell, died in a collision involving a car, a bicycle, and a scooter in Flitwick, Bedfordshire, on Friday at 23:50 BST. Two teenagers were hospitalized with critical injuries following the incident. Jamie Fountain, 24, and Ellie Ireland, 23, were brought before magistrates in Luton on charges linked to the crash. Both defendants were remanded in custody for their next court appearance on 5 May.
Fountain, who was operating a BMW at the time, faces multiple counts, including causing death by careless driving and contributing to the accident while exceeding the legal alcohol and drug limits. He is also accused of causing serious harm to two individuals, neglecting to stop at the scene, and failing to report the crash. Ireland, his girlfriend and an EasyJet cabin crew member, was charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
The court heard that family members of Noah and both accused were present during the hearing. Police noted that one of the injured boys remains in a serious condition as of Sunday. In a tribute shared via police, Noah’s family described him as a “fun, bright, handsome, athletic” boy who was “incredibly well-liked.”
