Bronny James sets up father LeBron in Lakers win

Bronny James, 19, made history during the Los Angeles Lakers’ 119-103 victory over the Golden State Warriors by delivering the first assist between a father and son in NBA history. The pass from Bronny to LeBron, who then raced down the court for an uncontested dunk, highlighted the legacy of the legendary athlete as he added 26 points to his stat line.

The Lakers’ dynamic duo, comprising LeBron and his son, also showcased their teamwork with Bronny contributing 10 points and three assists. This moment marked the first time a father-son assist was recorded in a game, following a previous instance against the Brooklyn Nets last month. LeBron, who is 41, notched 11 assists in the matchup, further cementing his role as a dominant force on the court.

With the season entering its final stretch, the Lakers remain fourth in the Western Conference, while the Warriors occupy the 10th spot. Both teams have already secured playoff berths, with the postseason beginning on 18 April. Elsewhere, the New York Knicks edged out the Boston Celtics 112-106, putting pressure on their Eastern Conference rivals. The Knicks are third in the standings, and the Celtics are second, with two games left to determine their fate.

Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors and Houston Rockets strengthened their playoff hopes with decisive wins. The Raptors defeated the Miami Heat 128-114, while the Rockets triumphed over the Philadelphia 76ers 113-102. In games involving teams that have already clinched playoff spots, the Chicago Bulls beat the Washington Wizards 119-108, and the Indiana Pacers crushed the Brooklyn Nets 123-94.

The WNBA is set to grow with expansion teams in Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia. This will bring the league to 18 teams by 2030, with Cleveland debuting in 2028 and Detroit and Philadelphia joining in subsequent years. Recent additions to the league include the Golden State Valkyries, who joined in 2025, while the Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire are set to launch this season. The new campaign starts on 8 May and concludes on 24 September.
