Savannah Guthrie returns to NBC’s Today show, as search for mother goes on
Savannah Guthrie Resumes Role at NBC’s Today Show Amid Ongoing Search for Mother
Savannah Guthrie, a prominent figure in US morning television, returned to NBC’s Today show on Monday. This marks her first appearance in the studio since January 30, when her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was last seen at home in Tucson, Arizona. The family had previously announced a $1 million reward for information leading to Nancy’s safe return.
Investigations suggest Nancy was abducted from her residence against her will. She was dropped off by relatives on the evening of January 31 and failed to appear at a friend’s house the next morning for a virtual Sunday service. Guthrie, who had temporarily stepped away from her duties, including NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics, emphasized her commitment to her family during a recent interview.
“I can’t not come back. This is my family,” she said. Last month, she described her return to work as “part of my purpose right now,” though she admitted uncertainty about her ability to continue. On Easter Sunday, Guthrie reaffirmed her faith in a video message from Good Shepherd New York.
“I still believe. And so I say with conviction, ‘Happy Easter,’” she declared at the conclusion of the service.
Guthrie also hinted that her public profile might have played a role in her mother’s disappearance. “The thought was too much to bear,” she reflected. Nancy was reported missing two days prior to her last known sighting, leaving the family in distress as the search continues without a confirmed suspect or motive.
