Olivia Dean cleans up again at MOBO Awards – as Pharrell Williams takes special prize for songwriting

Olivia Dean Dominates MOBO Awards Amid 30th Anniversary Celebration

Following her Grammy and Brit Award triumphs, singer-songwriter Olivia Dean has once again made headlines by sweeping the MOBO Awards, securing three prestigious categories. The ceremony, held at Manchester’s Co-op Live, crowned her as best female act, while her chart-topping album *The Art Of Loving* and its standout track *Man I Need* earned titles for album and song of the year.

Dean’s performance at the event included a set alongside artists such as FLO, Aitch, and Myles Smith, as well as a grime medley curated by DJ Target featuring Chip, D Double E, Nolay, Scorcher, and Wiley. This year’s MOBOs, marking three decades of celebrating black music globally, also welcomed U.S. icons Pharrell Williams and Slick Rick, who received the global songwriter award and a lifetime achievement honor, respectively.

Awards Beyond the Stage

Outside the music category, the night recognized other talents, including Niko Omilana as best media personality and Stephen Graham for his role in the critically acclaimed series *Adolescence*. Meanwhile, rapper Jim Legxacy claimed best male act, while singer-songwriter Raye was honored in the video of the year category for *Where Is My Husband!*. DC3, the newest rising star, took home both best newcomer and best gospel act titles.

The MOBO Awards highlighted international acts such as Arya Starr (best international act), Wizkid (best African music act), and Vybz Kartel (best Caribbean music act). Additional honors went to FLO for best RnB/soul act, Nova Twins for best alternative act, Central Cee for best hip-hop act, Ezra Collective for best jazz act, and Sherelle for best electronic/dance act. P2J was awarded best producer.

Dean’s achievements continue to build on her legacy, with her MOBO victories adding to a list that already includes a Grammy and recent Brit Awards recognition. The ceremony underscored its mission to spotlight black music across the globe, with a blend of established and emerging artists shaping the night’s highlights.
